Just 14 miles north of downtown Seattle along the I-5 corridor, this friendly community with big mountain views is known for convenient location, transportation connections, parks, trails, and first-class schools. Within its four square miles, the City boasts 355 acres of recreational attractions, including parks, play fields, year-round swimming, sports pavilion, and public open space. A beach and dock at Lake Ballinger allows fishing, quiet boating, and waterfront play. And the Nile Golf Course is open to the public.

Our Town Center Plan is being updated and the future will bring new mixed-use projects with wide sidewalks that will create a more traditional downtown feel. In Mountlake Terrace, you will find shops, restaurants, brew pubs, offices, clinics, a library, and a variety of housing options.

Community Transit, Sound Transit and Metro provide bus service from the Mountlake Terrace Transit Center and adjoining Freeway Station linking the city to the University of Washington, Seattle and Everett. A new light rail line that connects Mountlake Terrace to Seattle and is under construction. The station will be located across from the Transit Center at 236th Street just east of I-5. With easy access to I-5 and transit options, the city's appeal continues to grow in the region.

Our Civic Campus hosts the Mountlake Terrace Library, a full service Police Department and Fire Station 19 that is staffed and operated under a contract with South Snohomish County Fire & Rescue. A new City Hall, Police Station addition and Town Center Park/Plaza were constructed in 2021.
