Bill and Margaret Moule foundedMoule Paint & Glassin 1949. Bill originally came to California in the 30s and worked as a miner. There he met and married Margaret Payne. They moved from Grass Valley to the Baguio area in the Philippines, along with their first two children. When the Philippines fell to Japan in WWII, the Moules hid in the countryside but were eventually captured and lived in a war prison camp until the end of the war. In addition, he had contracted polio and was unable to resume mining upon returning to California. Instead, he started a glass and painting business. Bill and Margaret decided to open the glass and paint store in 1949 with amazing support from their community. Thus was born Moule Paint & Glass.

They had 12 children, nine boys and three girls all of them grew up in the glass and paint industry. Today, carrying on the tradition through 4 generations, The Moules individually own and operate 6 different stores in Northern California, Moules paint and glass in grass Valley moules California glass in Redding, Moules elk Grove glass in elk Grove, Moules Foothill glass in Auburn, Moules Tehema glass in red Bluff and Moules Truckee River glass in Truckee.
