I Bike Harlem is a bike tour operator offering guided “Bike and Bite” tours and daily bike rentals throughout Harlem Upper Manhattan, New York City.
Although world famous, Harlem may be New York’s best kept secret with some of the city’s most interesting architecture, best southern cuisine, soulful music, and interesting culture. Harlem’s history is also one of the city’s most dramatic; having gone through many ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic changes over the past 400 years.
Founder, Maxine Daniels, originally from Chicago Illinois and current resident of Harlem New York has roots that stem long and strong in Harlem. Her grandparents owned "Soul Food" restaurants in Harlem in the 50' and 60's and her aunt; whom she is named after, owned a grocery store on 110th and Lenox Avenue.
Maxine is an avid traveler. While exploring other countries she absolutely loves taking bike tours in order to learn about the history of different neighborhoods, to meet new people whom are from all over the world and to explore the many different cultures. After returning home from a trip to Colombia she decided to bring the fun and adventure to Harlem. With there being many walking tours and double decker bus tours in Harlem, Maxine felt that she would bring something more interactive and explorative to her wonderful neighbohood.
I Bike Harlem tours will cover the history and culture of Harlem. You will explore the mix of Harlem sights including churches, jazz clubs, speakeasies, elegant neighborhoods, institutions of art & culture, famous residences, and eateries. The tour will explain Harlem’s history from the beginning (mid 1650′s), to the present with special attention paid to the current renaissance happening in the community.
Our goal is to ensure each riders receives a Full Harlem Experience.......from "Bike to Bite".
