We assist people in representing themselves (Pro Per). If you want to do it yourself, we can help. We believe that representing yourself is one way to gain and keep control over your life and your legal problems. In some cases, you do not need legal training to use the courts or to manage your own legal affairs. Also, you have a constitutional right to represent yourself.
Effective January 1, 2000 California state law SB 1418 authorized non-lawyers to prepare legal documents for people doing their own legal tasks.
Called “Legal Document Assistants,” these people may:
Distribute legal materials that have been published or approved by an attorney.
Prepare the customers’ legal documents as directed by the customer, and
File the customers’ legal documents in the appropriate courts.
Legal Document Assistants are registered with the County where they perform services, have posted a $25,000 bond, and have established a minimum level of experience and/or education.
We are not attorneys
Attorneys give legal advice or represent people. If you want someone to represent you, you will need to hire an attorney.
We can assist you in the preparation and processing of your legal documents for unlawful detainer and other matters based upon your specific request.
You can meet with an attorney to simply consult and obtain legal advice only and utilize our service to prepare and process your legal documents for you without having to actually hire the attorney. However, should you wish to hire the attorney, you are welcome to do so.
